Question: I watched the dear mr. obama video and there was a negative comment posted on it, this was my response,?

After you read my response, please tell me what you think? Seriously from both sides of the Political Party, I would like to hear your thoughts. I read your posted comment on the video that (weneedmccain) posted, and I am curious. How much more do you know about what your brother thinks, other than that he disagrees with him? I myself am a recent Veteran , Naval Law Enforcement and Counter Terrorism. Now I realize that people are entitled to they're opinions, however I am always curious about those who not only have negative opinions that served in Iraq, but those that say we are the bad ones going into Iraq, after they served there. I know you did "not " state, that these were your brothers personal feelings, but it has been my experience so far, that the other military members I have spoken to that are against what we have done in Iraq, that most of them feel that way, or they were in the military and never served in Iraq and are just displeased with they're time in the military. Please do not assume that I am thinking your brother didn't serve in Iraq, I am thinking nothing of the sort. I am just letting you know my consensus in what I have found out. I myself coming from the Navy, only spent 6 months there in Iraq, and most of the time moving from one place to the other. From what I have seen however I have to agree with (weneedmccain), so whenever I hear that another military member that served there is negative against it, I always get curious. So please write me back and let me know what else other than what the extremely biased media (on all sides) has told you, that you know about Iraq, coming from your brothers experience. Also please feel free to let your brother email me back as well. I am not going to be a negative person, and attack you or your brother with immature verbal profanities. So I expect the same from you. I am not assuming that you will, however I know that there are many people from both sides out there, that cannot hold a mature conversation, and I wanted to let you know that is what I expect. I just wanted to add one more thing, although I was in the Navy for 6 1/ 2 years, I was never on a ship. My job of L/ E and Counter Terrorism Training kept me on land, and I have served the majority of my service overseas in different Nations. I have served and lived in Italia , Greece, and South Korea, I have also (thankfully) to the extremely cheap air service from ryanair visited many European Nations in the 3 1/ 2 years I was in Europe. I have also visited Japan when I was living in South Korea. I have gotten to know so many different cultures and people from all over this world, and the majority of the people that I have met, were actually understanding and pro America. Something else you don't hear or see on the media in todays world. So I am very interested in hearing from you and your brother about why he has a different view and opinion about Iraq. I myself and "NOT " a Republican, I just wanted to get that out of the way. I am an Independent. There are not many Real Republicans and Democrats left in todays world. The majority of those parties have turned into Conservatives and Liberals, and I pretty much despise both, because they are the extremists version of what those two great parties used to be. The old School Democrats like FDR and JFK are gone , the last remaining one with any power is Joe Lieberman. The last of the good Republicans like Reagan, Ike, and Lincoln are gone. There are not many left, the only two I can see are Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani. Senator McCain although registered a Republican I personally believe is an Independent. I believe his Policies are much better than Obama's , and I have actually read much on them, not just listen to the edited sound bites that the media clips. I all actuality have read much on both Obama and McCain's Policies, and I can tell you there is much more than what they say and what they really are if you read them. McCain has far less questionable characters ( friends, acquaintances) than Obama does. And when questioned about them McCain has been outright and honest about them, Obama has not and tries to hide and has been caught lieing about them. Those are just some of the reasons why I myself and voting for John McCain. There are many more, but my original intention was not about why you are voting for Obama. So please if you do email me back, write back about your brother and Iraq first, and if you wish to continue with reasons why you are voting for Obama, let that be last. Sincerely Mike, M. Thank You to everyone that answered even the people that do not agree, with one exception. The guy that stated it was too long to read and he felt the need to say Obama anyways. Well I do not thank you sir, since you did not read it. To "Klee " Thank you for taking the time to write and extensive response. We may not agree on our choices for President, but I am not "seeing " things just because I am for McCain. Obama has been caught lying about Wright, and Ayers, and now just recently Rashid Khalidi. And there have been WMD's found , just small caches. I will provide a couple links on that. But what can you expect when the U.N Security Council gave Saddam almost 2 years to get rid of the Major Stock Piles. Bush and Blair went in when they couldnt wait any longer. There are more reasons than that for Iraq, but there have been WMD's found. Please read the links and then understand. http:/ / www.breitbart.com/ article.php?id=060622055545.07o4imol &show_article=1 http:/ / www.washingtonpost.com/ wp- dyn/ content/ article/ 2005/ 08/ 13/ AR2005081300530.html http:/ / www.freerepublic.com/ focus/ f- news/ 1163879/ posts |

A)You misspelled lying in the last paragraph. B)This isn't even disguised as a question. At least most people do the "Does Obama still beat his wife " shtick... |

What are my thoughts? That it's impossible to judge your 'answer' here without seeing the posted comment that it's suppose to be addressing. Without it, this is just a one-sided essay aka commercial for your candidate. |

I have several friends who went to war, joining after high school. All of them are very unhappy with the war. One of my friends in the army talked about how they would designate groups to go drive down roads they knew probably had people waiting to attack them, or roadside bombs...just to bait them out. I was also told that peacekeeping is horrible. From what I was told, he is acting essentially like a police force, and he says they haven't really been trained at all how to deal with the people. He also tells me that others there with him make fun of the citizens of Iraq to try and settle their nerves on it, because it's a very awkward situation for them. I'm just saying what I was told from my friends. I haven't personally been over there, so I can't say. But when several of my good friends go, and the ones of them who NEVER say anything bad about ANYTHING tell me that now they "loathe the military "...well, something isn't right. |

It's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I disagree with some parts. "Senator McCain although registered a Republican I personally believe is an Independent. " If you look at the majority of his policies, he's clearly a Republican. Not a right winger, but a moderate Republican. "I believe his Policies are much better than Obama's , and I have actually read much on them, not just listen to the edited sound bites that the media clips " I'm glad you did that, I did that too, and I've concluded that Obama is better for America. If you’re implying Obama supporters only listen to edited sound bites and media clips, then I remind you that there’s a lot of McCain supporters who believe all those internet lies and smears about Obama being a Muslim or a terrorist, so it goes both ways. "McCain has far less questionable characters ( friends, acquaintances) than Obama does. And when questioned about them McCain has been outright and honest about them, Obama has not and tries to hide and has been caught lieing about them. " Obama has never been friends with those people, it's been explained over and over again. Obama didn't lie about his relationship with those people, he was honest, but you won't accept that because you support McCain. As for the war in Iraq, I’m 100% against that. There was no need to go into Iraq. There were no WMD’s. There was no threat to our country. Thousands of American soldiers have been killed as a result of that, as well as thousands of Iraqi citizens (nobody ever thinks about them, but I guess they don’t matter right?). Almost everyone on this planet is against that war. It’s cost billions and it’s messed up our economy. That was needs to end and that’s one of the main reasons for why I support Obama. It's your right to vote for McCain if you want, but in my opinion, you're being misled. I guarantee you that if McCain wins this election, the economy will get worse, there will be more war, more American soldiers killed, more hostility against Americans and more hard times. As for your response itself, it's good, just a few spelling mistakes. The paragraph about traveling to other countries is irrelevant to the issue, in my opinion |

I am not sure the exact response you are replying to, but I think you have listed your points validly and I tend to agree with them. Thank you for your military service. I too have had several family members in Iraq and Afghanistan. My brothers do the job they signed up to do for their country and do it proudly and most of you. It does bother me when someone who has served there has such negative comments about it. Usually once I dig deeper into them I find they are negative because they personally didn't want to be in a war and signed up for the military for free college and a chance to see the world- not to defend the country they love. That is usually the difference I see in these soldiers. |
